20 Ghanaian Referees Get 2023 FIFA Badges

Twenty Ghanaian referees have been presented with their FIFA badges for the 2023 football season.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has presented FIFA badges to about twenty (20) male and female referees and Assistant Referees.

The global football governing body presents badges to top-ranked referees for the year under review. Based on the performance of countries during the previous year is ranked by the Classification and Assessment Committee each year. FIFA assigns a certain quota of referees to each member Association.

Ghana’s list includes six (6) male referees, six (6) Assistant male referees, four (4) female referees, four (4) female Assistant referees, and one (1) FIFA VAR Referee.

Daniel Nii Ayi Laryea, Charles Benle Bulu, Adaare Abdul Latif, Benjamin Kwame Sefah, Latif Abdul Qadir, and Julian Nii Akwa Nunoo are the central referees.

Juliet Appiah, Joyce Obenewah Appiah, Barikisu Salifu, and Rita Nkansah Boateng are the female referees while the assistant female referees include Alice Farizua Chakule, Doris Essumang Darko, Mary Tei, and Patricia Kyeraa.

The Ghana Football Association’s Secretariat was the venue of the presentation of the badges which took place on Tuesday,24 January.

The presentations were done by the referees’ manager Alex Kotey and Christine Zigah the chairperson of the referees’ Appointments Committee.
