2022 CHAN Champions Will Walk Away $2million

The winner of the 2022 Championship for African Nations (CHAN) will go home with prize money of US$2 million the Confederations of African Football (CAF) has announced.

The announcement of the prize money represents a 60% increase on the previous prize money winners walked away with.
The Nelson Mandela Stadium will hold the finale of this year’s CHAN tournament on 4 February 2023.

CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe announced the decision in line with the governing body’s strategic plan of increasing the commercial value of African competition.

The team that will be crowned champion of this year’s tournament will have an increase of US$750,000.000 on what the previous winner received a couple of years.

US$5,540,000.00 was the total sum paid to all participating teams in the previous tournament but the total prize money allotted for this year’s competition is US$7,900,000.00.

With the amount of money allocated for the 2022 CHAN, the least-earning team in the competition will earn not less than US$200,000.00

The TotalEnergies CHAN Algeria 2022 is now at the quarterfinals stage which is scheduled to begin later today.
