2022 World Cup Qualifiers: Ghana Coach Milovan Removes Jamie Lawrence As Fitness Trainer

Ghana Coach Milovan Rajevac has removed former Jamaica international player and trainer Jamie Lawrence as the Black Stars fitness coach.

Lawrence, who is famous worldwide for his work with top players across Europe and the English Premier League, made the announcement of leaving the position.

The former Jamaican international, who is now 50 was not seen as a member of the Black Stars since Rajevac returned to his second stint as Ghana coach.

It’s unclear what motivated him to quit his position in the capacity as the Black Stars fitness trainer, but it is thought that Rajevac wanted to have a slimmer backroom staff since he is a coach with two assistant.

Lawrence was part of the Black Stars team during Charles Kwabla Akonnor’s time as the head coach.

He has announced his departure of his position with the Black Stars as physical trainer due to his absence, which raised questions about the fitness level of Ghana national team players. Ghana national team after they were by a fitter Ethiopia team.

Unfortunately my time working for the black stars has come to a end . I enjoyed every minute of working with the staff and players and I’m wishing you all the success in the upcoming games,” Lawrence wrote.

Lawrence was an athletic coach for the Black Stars in 2015 and 2017 under coach Avram Grant, where he assisted the team to get to the finals of the AFCON.

Later, he was hired to join the team of CK Akonnor for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in November last year.
