50 Cent Biography
50 Cent is an American rapper, actor, and businessman. He is well-known for his influence in the hip-hop industry and his work as an actor. He has been described as a “master of the nuanced art of lyrical brevity.”
Jackson was born in the Borough of Queens, New York City, on July 6, 1975, and was raised in the South Jamaica neighborhood by his mother Sabrina until her death in a fire when Jackson was just 8 years old. Jackson revealed the fact in an interview that his mother was a lesbian.
50 Cent started selling drugs as a teenager in the 1980s during the crack epidemic. He later pursued an acting career, and in 2000 he recorded Power of the Dollar for Columbia Records, but days before the scheduled release he was shot, and the album never came out.
In 2002, following the time that 50 Cent dropped the album compilation Guess What’s happening? The rapper was found by Eminem and was signed with Shady Records, under the aegis of Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment and Interscope Records.
Thanks to Eminem along with Dr. Dre (who produced his first major-label album, Get Rich or Die Tryin’) 50 Cent was one of the top-selling rappers. He became a household name as his de facto head of the East Coast hip hop group G-Unit.
The year 2003 was the time he launched G-Unit Records, signing his G-Unit associates Young Buck, Lloyd Banks and, Tony Yayo. 50 Cent enjoyed similar popularity and critical acclaim when he released his second album, The Massacre, which was released in the year 2005.
The band underwent changes in its music by his 5th album, Animal Ambition (2014), and he is currently working on his 6th album. He co-produced and appeared on the television show Power (2014-2020) in addition to being set to produce its spin-offs.
The rapper has sold more than 30 million albums around the world, and has been awarded numerous accolades including the Grammy Award, thirteen Billboard Music Awards, six World Music Awards, three American Music Awards, and four BET Awards.
As an actor, 50 Cent appeared in the semi-autobiographical film Get Rich or Die Tryin’ (2005), the war film Home of the Brave (2006), and the crime thriller film Righteous Kill (2008).
Jackson was named as the sixth-best performer of the 2000s as well as the third-best artist (behind Eminem and Nelly) by Billboard. Rolling Stone ranked Get Rich or Die in the Top 10 and included “Tryin’ as well as “In da Club” in its list of “100 Best Albums of the 2000s” and “100 Best Songs of the 2000s” at 37 and 13 respectively.
50 Cent Net Worth
His net worth is estimated at $40 million. In his entire career, 50 Cent has earned more than $260 million from his numerous ventures, most notably selling records, performing and a variety of brand partnership agreements.
