Former Ghana Football Association [GFA] chairman, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe has alleged that about 75 percent of the playing body of the Black Galaxies are over 35 years old.
The Black Galaxies were eliminated from the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) at the quarterfinal stage by Niger on Saturday by two goals to nil.
Ghana suffered two defeats and won only one match in the whole tournament.
Reacting to Ghana’s elimination at the tournament, Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe urged the Ghana Football Association to ensure it curbs the menace of age cheating.
He told Asempa FM that until Ghana gets the age of players right, it will always lag behind. He noted that a close look at the Ghana squad will reveal that the players were much older than their opponents and that he can confidently say that 75 percent of the Ghanaian player are more than 35 years old.
Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe posited that Ghana’s biggest challenge is age cheating, something he says the country has been involved in for a long time and has finally caught up with the nation.
He added that the modern game is about stamina and speed which requires younger and fitter players to execute.
