Yakubu Dogara, a former Speaker of the House Representatives has called for the North to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari and rule the country for another four years.
He said the North would be served equity and justice if it is allowed to rule for another four years after President Buhari leaves office, meaning that the North would have now equaled the South in terms of the total number of years at the helm of the nation.
The former Speaker revealed that the South has ruled Nigeria for 14 years while the North has ruled for a decade.
He explained further that former presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan are from the South while the North produced Yar’Adua who served for only two years and now President Muhammadu Buhari.
Dogara said that if the truth must be told, Jonathan is a Christian, Obasanjo is a Christian; Obasanjo ruled for eight years, and Jonathan ruled for six years.
So if the terms served are put together, Christians have ruled the country for 14 years and if Buhari’s eight years are added to that of Yar’Adua it comes to ten years. Therefore the only way to attain equity is for a Muslim to be allowed to rule for the next four years.
