Former Black Stars head coach in paying tribute to the late Christian Atsu has urged Ghanaians to be proud of having had someone like him.
Christian Atsu met a tragic death in the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that hit Turkey about a fortnight ago.
In an interview with Joy Sports, Grant said that he had received several tons of calls from Ghana which show how much Ghanaians loved the former Chelsea winger.
He said that the bereaved family and the Ghanaian populace at large should carry themselves with pride to have been near someone of his caliber, who he says was always positive even in difficult times.
Avram Grant revealed that Atsu was always smiling whether or not he was playing and always had a positive attitude and he spoke with him.
Christian Atsu’s mortal remains have been flown back to Ghana, awaiting the arrangements for his funeral, which many expect to be organized by the state of Ghana.
