I Had An offer From Manchester United But I Decided To Stay At Leeds – Tony Yeboah

Ex-Ghana and Leeds United striker Tony Yeboah has revealed that he got a transfer offer to move to Manchester United but he opted to stay at Leeds United due to his relationship with the club’s fans.

During the winter transfer window of 1995, Yeboah moved from Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga to the English side Leeds United for a fee of 3.4 million pounds sterling.

In his second season at Elland Road, he was voted Player of the Year.

Tony Yeboah said in an interview that at that time, Leeds was not sure he could play in English football, so they only loaned him for six months and wanted to test him before maybe they could sign him.

He went on to reveal that after six months, he was fantastic and he had an offer from Manchester United but he decided to stay at Leeds because of the way the fans treated him.

He added that he couldn’t have gone to any other club.
Tony Yeboah is a cult hero with the Leeds United fans having scored many memorable goals with his record of 32 goals in 66 appearances for the club.
