We Were Not Better Than Angola – Black Stars Coach Chris Hughton

Ghana coach Chris Hughton has disclosed that his side was not the better side on the day even though they turned out as 1-0 winners in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

On matchday four of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers, the Black Stars recorded their first victory in their first competitive match of the year which was played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Second-half substitute Antoine Semenyo gave the Black Stars all three points at stake with a last-gasp strike.
Speaking to the media after the game, revealed that though he is satisfied with his team’s performance on the day, he reckons they were not the better team on the pitch.

The experienced coah said African football is not different from football anywhere, if you perform well enough, you have the chance of winning if you score goals in the game you can take the pressure off yourself. Probably, our performance was okay I think in the end we deserve it we were better than Angola not so much more but we were better.

Ghana is now three points clear at the top of the group, and will jet off to Luanda,Angola for the second leg of the fixture.
