Chris Hughton Concerned With Lack Of Cutting Edge In Ghana’s Attack Against Angola

Ghana Coach Chris Hughton has called on his charges to be more efficient in front of goal following the team’s narrow 1-0 win over Angola in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier on Thursday.

The Black Stars were unable to convert their chances into goals even though they dominated possession with about 11 clear chances.
Striker Antoine Semenyo’s late strike secured the win deep into added time.

Hughton expressed his concern about the team’s lack of the killer instinct in front of the goal and emphasized the significance of taking chances to secure victories.

He revealed that Ghana had 11 chances, which is positive, and that if they had played 96 minutes and only had two or three chances, then that’s worrying.

Hughton added that the fact that the team had chances, you always know… come the next game or the next game after, you’re going to put some of them away.

The manager concluded that that is the only thing the team has learned, which is that it needs to be a little more clinical when it has those opportunities.
