Anastasia Sergeyevna Potapova, a professional tennis player from Russia, achieved her career-best singles ranking of world No. 21 according to the WTA on June 19, 2023.
Additionally, she holds a doubles ranking of 40, attained on December 5, 2022. Potapova, a former junior world No. 1, claimed the girls’ singles title at the 2016 Wimbledon Championships.

Anastasia Potapova was born to Sergey Potapov and Yulia Potapova. Her mother, Yulia, holds a Master of Sports in volleyball and has a background as a former basketball coach. Yulia also played for the national team of the Sports Institute in Saratov.
In March 2023, Potapova received a formal warning from the WTA for wearing a Spartak Moscow T-shirt before a match in Indian Wells, interpreted as a public display of support for Russia during its invasion of Ukraine.
Potapova, who had been a Spartak fan since the age of 13, defended her action, stating that she saw no provocation in wearing the shirt. Nevertheless, the WTA deemed her behavior as “not acceptable nor an appropriate action.”
During the Indian Wells tournament, Potapova exited in the third round, facing defeat against third seed Jessica Pegula.
Subsequently, at the Miami tournament where she was seeded 27th, Potapova advanced to the quarterfinals by defeating sixth seed Coco Gauff and 23rd seed Zheng Qinwen. This achievement propelled her ranking into the top 25 as of April 3, 2023.
