Kay Smooth, a Ghanaian singer, has bragged about the fact that he is more popular than two frontrunners of the dancehall genre in Ghana, Shatta Wale, and Samini.
His submissions come after he claimed that Shatta Wale and Samini once approached him for a favor, thus makes him popular than they are.
During an interview on Angel FM, Kay Smooth said, “We all know Shatta is very popular and Samini is also very popular, but you can imagine, the one you call popular today, who we call Shatta Wale or Samini, once upon a time (came for favors). Shatta Wale came to see me, so if I wasn’t that popular at the time or nobody knew me, he wouldn’t have come to look for me.”
According to him, he was the one who introduced Shatta Wale to the late Terry Bonchaka.
He further revealed that Samini once approached him in 1996 to put him on his record after he recorded a masterpiece with Terry Bonchaka.
“Around 1996, I recorded Azaa girl featuring Terry Bonchaka at Nana King’s Ashanti International and Samini approached me to put him on my record,” he said.
Well, per these instances, Kay Smooth believes that he is more popular than both dancehall artistes despite the recognition they have gained so far and the fans they have garnered over the years.
