Lordina Mahama Received GHS8000 Allowance Every 3 Months – Sammy Gyamfi Reveals

The National Communication Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Sammy Gyamfi has dymstified the confusion around the amount of money former First Lady Lordina Mahama enjoyed when John Mahama was still in office.

Sammy Gyamfi has said that the former First Lady was paid GHS8000 each three months which is the opposite of various amounts being speculated.

Speaking on Okay FM on 13th July 2021, he said the salary for the First Lady at the time was a convention that had been practiced to provide support for ex-President who are no more and sitting spouses.

He mentioned that aside the GHS8000 Lordina Mahama received each three months she also received free health care and security from the state.

”The agreement was that all former First Ladies who were facing some challenges were going to receive some allowances every three months. The Rawlings government did it for Fathia (Nkrumah) and other former First Ladies” he stated.

Sammy Gyamfi made this comment following calls for Lordina Mahama to refund all allowances paid her since 2009 after Rebecca Akufo-Addo and Samira Bawumia decided to refund their allowances back date 2017.
