MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Akompreko Agyapong, has officially thrown his weight behind vice president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia ahead of the 2024 elections.
The Hon. MP who has been in the news for various reasons urged all the party members on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to support Dr. Bawumia so he can replace Nana Akufo-Addo come 2024. He also used the opportunity to ask the NPP party to stop projecting the party as a pro-Akan party in order to prove critics wrong.
This is what he had to say;
”I will plead with everyone to shelve the conversation about the ambition. If you don’t allow Nana Addo to work form 3 years, I’m afraid you might have the best brain but Ghanaians will not vote for us. Our behavior is clearly showing that defeat is staring at us”.
He added; ” I will vote Bawumia as a candidate if he is elected because I have worked with him in this government and I have seen that he is competent and capable of doing the work. I’m not going to vote for him for the fact that he is a Northerner. That is rubbish.
It is very rubbish, the man is competent and he can do it but don’t come and tell me that he is a Northerner so we should give it to him. Why are you people behaving like that. I will go for Bawumia because he can do the work”.
He made this revelation in an interview on Net2 TV.
