2022 World Cup Qualifiers: Gladson Awako Should Have Been Named In The Black Stars Sqaud – Coach JE Sarpong

Veteran Ghanaian coach Joseph Edward Sarpong says Great Olympics skipper Gladson Awako should have been named in the Black Stars squad for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia and South Africa.

Black Stars coach CK Akonnor named his provisional squad for the double-header without the Great Olympics midfielder.

According to the outspoken coach, CK Akonnor should have included Gladson Awako in his squad as the 30-year-old has been impressive throughout the season.

“I don’t have any problem with the squad, but I think Gladson Awako and most of the Hearts of Oak players should have been called”, he told Happy FM.

Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak duo Richard Attah and Daniel Afriyie Barnie have been named in the Black Stars provisional squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Richard Attah and Daniel Afriyie Barnie played key roles in Hearts of Oak campaign in the just-ended season as they won the double (Ghana Premier League and MTN FA Cup).

Ghana will take on the Walias of Ethiopia at the Cape Coast stadium on Friday, September 3, before playing South Africa on Monday, September 6, 2021 in Johannesburg.
