Ghana coach Charles Akonnor has justified his decision not to include defender Mohammed Salisu in his latest squad.
Akonnor last week Friday named a 30-man provisional squad for the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia and South Africa.
And the Southampton defender was conspicuously missing from the squad.
The 22-year-old is one of Ghana’s brightest talents in Europe and plays regularly in the very demanding Premier League, thus his consistent absence from the Black Stars doesn’t sit with Ghanaians.
“With Mohammed Salisu, you need check. The other day he said when he is ready, he will let us know,” Akonnor explained.
“I don’t know, maybe. He said when he is ready, and up till now, I don’t know if he is ready or not. So I won’t be able to answer that.”
