Veteran Highlife singer, Gyedu Blay Ambolley has contended that the late Nana Ampadu whose death was made public a few days ago by his grandson deserves to be given a state burial.
While eulogizing the late singer in an interview on Adom TV, Gyedu Blay Ambolley said that Nana Ampadu has contributed enormously to the growth of the Ghana music industry and as such, he needs to be honored with a State Burial.
However, he revealed that he fears that his plea might not be taken into consideration on the account that other legends who have passed on in the past were never given State Burials, so it might never be done for Nana Ampadu.
For those who contributed significantly to Ghana music, there is nothing for them when they die because when C.K Man died, Papa Yankson, nothing as such happened for their funerals,” he said.
He claims that the music industry has subsequently diversified to the point where musicians are left to fend for themselves, and as a result, they do not receive the appropriate respect and admiration.
“It has become each one for himself, God, for us all attitude. Amakye Dede, Pat Thomas and everyone walking their own ways. It can worry us in the future,” he lamented.
