Dortmund Trainer Otto Addo Starts Work As Ghana Assistant Coach

On Tuesday, Otto Addo, Dortmund trainer, officially began his duties as Ghana assistant coach.

Black Stars’ first training session at Cape Coast was attended by the former Ghanaian international, ahead of crucial World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe.

Otto Addo said that he led an “exciting training” where 25 players went through several routines in preparation for Saturday.

In September, Addo was named first assistant coach. He accepted to work alongside Milovan Rajevac, a Serbian tactician, and Maxwell Konadu as second assistant coach.

But, Otto Addo is not quitting a similar job he held at Dortmund. He is now combining both roles.

“What I know is that Otto will be working as a service provider at least for now, unfortunately, because having sought permission from his club, Borussia Dortmund, they felt they cannot release him,” GFA spokesperson Henry Asante Twum revealed.

It will take time for him to come and work for us fully. So for now Otto will be doing pay-as-you-go. He comes to work during the international breaks and then goes back.” He added.

On Saturday, he will be present in the dugout as the Black Stars face Zimbabwe at the Cape Coast Stadium in a crucial match. The two teams will again meet in Harare three days later.
