Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo has commissioned a brand new astro turf that is worth three million Ghana cedis. It is located in Bantama within the Ashanti Region.
The President fought off a torrential downpour to officially open the multipurpose venue on Sunday.
After the ceremonial kickoff, the president presented a monument to the crowd, amidst the cheers of a raucous crowd.
The mini-stadium, built by the Wembley Sports Complex Company, includes a regular football pitch with stands, floodlights, and stands. It also has changing rooms.
The pitch that was artificially constructed came from an initiative by the MP for the region Mr. Asenso-Boakye with assistance of the National Lottery Authority (NLA).
Former Black Stars players, including former skippers Kwasi Appiah and Stephen Appiah, Frimpong Manso, Emmanuel Armah, Sammy Adjei, Derek Boateng, Laryea Kingston and Prince Opoku Polley and other young talents entertained the crowd during a display match.
