Crystal Palace Coach Patrick Vieira Reacts To Jordan Ayew’s Miss Against Man United

Crystal Palace coach Patrick Vieira was disappointed that striker Jordan Ayew couldn’t get a goal against Manchester United in Sunday’s Premier League match.

The Ghanaian played hard and was probably among Palace’s top footballers during his time at Old Trafford but lacked the modernity when it was needed most.

In the 75th minute, Jordan squandered Palace’s best chance of the match. Jordan smashed James Tomkins’ knockdown across goal and out of the way, leaving David de Gea beaten as Cheikhou Kouyate could not get to the other end of it.

Palace were able to pay for their mistake when Fred scored two minutes later. The goal was the winning goal for United.

I believe that our front three could’ve held the ball better. I think we didn’t keep the ball well enough upfront. And I think talking about Jordan, of course, he had the big chance of the game and he didn’t take it,” Vieira said.

But on the side, I think he was fantastic for us today. His work ethic. I think he was the best player upfront.

I feel really sorry for him, but I’m really disappointed for him because he deserved to score the goals that he created,” he added.

Ayew isn’t currently enjoying himself at the goal line for both his club and national. He hasn’t scored any goals this season. His last goal in a match was in March, when he took an injury time penalty goal for Ghana at Sao Tome as well as Principe.

At Palace, Jordan hasn’t scored since scoring in the match against Leeds United in November 2020.
