Stephen Appiah Pitch To Be Unveiled On 41st Birthday

Black Stars legend Stephen Appiah will be celebrated by the government of Ghana on his birthday by revealing the pitch in Mambrobi to honour him.

The AstroTurf will be named after the former Ghana Black Stars captain, who led Ghana to the FIFA World Cup for the first time.

The pitch was constructed through the authority for coastal development in the one million dollars per constituent project.

A former Black Stars Captain, Asamoah Gyan, as well as Laryea Kingston, Sulley Mutari, Agyeman Badu, John Paintsil, Derek Boateng, Isaac Vorsah, and Anthony Baffoe will be guests at the Mamprobi Girls on December 24. Stephen Appiah will officially unveil the plaque in celebration of the official naming of the former captain after the new social and community facility.

Stephen Appiah led Ghana to the World Cup in Germany in 2006, becoming the very first Ghana captain to complete this feat.

He was in the squad that made it to the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup in 2010 in South Africa.

Appiah in his brilliant career was a player for clubs such as of Hearts of Oak, Udinese, Juventus, Fenerbache, and Vovojdina.
