2022 World Cup Playoff: Callum Hudson Odoi Won’t Be Available For Ghana In Nigeria Clash

Callum Hudson-Odoi has agreed to switch nationality and play for the Black Stars, but the Chelsea star will not be available for the World Cup play-offs against Nigeria next month.

The 21-year-old will only be available for the Black Stars if they qualify for the 2022 World Cup to be staged in Qatar, according to reports.

The 2021 UEFA Champions League winner has agreed to ditch England and represent the country of his parents.

Hudson-Odoi when asked about switching nationality in a recent interview with the Evening Standard said,

“I don’t know. At the end of the day, we will wait until that time comes”.

The new FIFA rules mean that it is possible for Hudson-Odoi, to switch international allegiance despite two of his three caps coming in competitive fixtures.

Hudson-Odoi last played in England’s 5-0 Euro 2020 qualifier win over Czech Republic at Wembley in March 2019, and then made his full debut three days later against Montenegro.

He has represented England at various youth levels from the Under 16’s.

Hudson-Odoi was part of the England U-17 team that won the 2017 FIFA World Cup in India.
