Trevor Noah is a South African comedian, host of a television show, and political commentator. He hosts The Daily Show, an American humorous news show which airs on Comedy Central. He was born in Johannesburg, on February 20, 1984, Noah began his career in South Africa in 2002.
Furthermore, he was a host on several occasions in the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) and was runner-up on Strictly Come Dancing’s fourth version of Strictly Come Dancing in 2008. From 2010 to 2011, he hosted the late-night show Tonight, which he created and broadcast for a few years on M-Net in addition to DStv.
Noah was named the International Chief Correspondent of The Daily Show in 2014, and in 2015, he succeeded the long-running anchor Jon Stewart. His autobiographical comedy book Born a Crime was published in the year 2016. He was the host for the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards in 2021.
Noah has been awarded numerous awards which include MTV Africa Music Award and a Primetime Emmy Award from eleven nominations. Noah was named one of “The 35 Most Influential individuals on the planet in New York Media” by The Hollywood Reporter in 2017 and in 2018. Early Life
His father, Robert, is of Swiss-German ancestry, and his mother, Patricia Nombuyiselo Noah, is Xhosa. According to apartheid law, Noah’s mother was identified as Black and Noah’s father’s was classified as White, whiles Noah himself was classified as Colored.
At the time when Noah was born, his parents’ interracial relationship was not legal, as Noah exposes in the autobiography of his father. Marriages and interracial relationships weren’t legalized until a year after the birth of Noah, when the Immorality Act was amended in 1985.
Patricia, along with her mother, Nomalizo Frances Noah, raised Trevor in the township of black of Soweto. Noah attended Maryvale College, a private Roman Catholic primary and high school located in Johannesburg.
