Bobbie Nelson Obituary, Burial, Funeral, Memorial Service, and all the funeral arrangement of the American pianist and singer.
Bobbie Lee Nelson was an American pianist and singer, the older sister of Willie Nelson and a member of his band, Willie Nelson and Family.
Her grandmother taught her how to play keyboards when she was five years, using an organ pump, and after her appearance at the gospel festivals that were held within Hillsboro, Texas, her grandfather bought her a piano.
She began singing in school acts and at church together with her brother. When she was sixteen, she married Bud Fletcher, who formed his own band, The Texans. She was a piano player, while her brother joined on guitar and vocals.
The band was disbanded in 1955, following the divorce of Fletcher. In the year 1961, after suffering an emotional breakdown caused by Fletcher’s death and their children custody being handed over to his parents, she relocated to Fort Worth, Texas, where she was employed by Hammond Organ Company. After she recovered her children, she relocated into Austin, Texas.
In 1965, she relocated into Nashville, Tennessee, after her third marriage ended in divorce. She played in restaurants as well as various places until she was contacted to her older brother in New York in 1973 for a session.
She accompanied Willie Nelson on the piano in his sessions together with Atlantic Records, that produced The Troublemaker, Shotgun Willie and Phases and Stages. The following year, the singer became a member of The Family full-time and began performing with her brother.
