Brad Martin was an American country music singer-songwriter.
He first made an appearance onto the American country music scene in 2002, with the debut of his album Wings of a Honky-Tonk Angel, that was the source of the top 15 hit single “Before I Knew Better”.
Martin was taught how to play the guitar from a young age. He then began to take an desire to write songs, and relocated into Nashville, Tennessee at the age of his early 20s.
He was a regular performer at the bar, and was eventually discovered by Joe Carter, an artist manager who had collaborated together with Tracy Byrd. Carter recognized the potential of the young singer and was soon signed by Sony Epic Record Label.
Martin was signed by Epic Records in 2000. The first single he released, “Before I Knew Better”, was in 2002, the first single off his debut album Wings of a Honky-Tonk Angel.
The album was given a favorable critique by About.com because of its distinctive neotraditionalist sound. Additionally, “Before I Knew Better” received an award from BMI as one of the top fifty popular country songs in 2003.
But, “Rub Me the Right Way”, the second single from Wings of a Honky-Tonk Angel, did not be able to make it into the Top 40, as did “Just Like Love”. A single that was not on the album, “One of Those Days”, was released in 2003, before Martin left Epic’s roster.
Martin was not active with country music until he joined with songwriter John Ramey to found the Martin Ramey duo in 2008. Martin Ramey in 2008. Martin Ramey signed to Curb Records in the year 2008.
