Madeleine Albright Parents: Meet Josef Korbel And Anna Spiegelova, the father and mother of the late American diplomat.

Madeleine Jana Korbel Albright was an American diplomat who served as the 64th United States Secretary of State from 1997 to 2001 under President Bill Clinton.

She was the first female Secretary of State in U.S. history.

Albright immigrated with her family to the United States in 1948 from Czechoslovakia. Her father, diplomat Josef Korbel, settled the family in Denver, Colorado, and she became a U.S. citizen in 1957.

She was born on May 15, 1937, in Smíchov, Prague, Czechia, and died from cancer on March 23, 2022, at the age of 84.

Albright was the daughter of Josef Korbel and Anna Spiegelova. Her father, Josef, was a Czech-American diplomat and a political scientist who was of Jewish descent.

He was the Czechoslovakian ambassador to Yugoslavia as well as the head of the United Nations Commission for India and Pakistan and later as an international political professor in the University of Denver, where he founded the Josef Korbel School of International Studies.

Josef Korbel was born on September 20, 1909, in Letohrad, Czechia, and died on July 18, 1977, in Denver, Colorado, United States.
