Gilbert Gottfried Heart Condition: What Disease Did Gilbert Gottfried Have? All you need to know about what led to the death of the American actor and stand-up comedian.
Gilbert Jeremy Gottfried was an American actor and stand-up comedian. His persona as a comedian featured an exaggerated shrill voice and emphasis on crude humor.
His diverse roles in films and television include voicing the parrot Iago in Disney’s Aladdin animated series and films, Digit LeBoid on PBS Kids’ long-running Cyberchase, and Kraang Subprime in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Gottfried was the voice of the Aflac Duck until the year 2011. He appeared in the critically panned but commercially profitable Problem Child in 1990.
Until his death, between 2014 and 2022, Gottfried hosted the Gilbert Gottfried’s Amazing Colossal Podcast, which included discussions of classic films and interviews with celebrities, most frequently with veteran comedians, actors, as well as musicians and comedy writers.
Gilbert, a documentary film that focuses on Gottfried’s life and work, was released in 2017.
Gilbert Gottfried Heart Condition: What Disease Did Gilbert Gottfried Have?
Gilbert Gottfried was reportedly battling a heart abnormality called Ventricular Tachycardia.
According to TMZ, Gilbert’s rep, Glenn Schwartz, revealed the actor died from a “heart abnormality called Ventricular Tachycardia due to Myotonic Dystrophy type II.”
Ventricular Tachycardia is a type of abnormal heart rhythm, or arrhythmia. It occurs when the lower chamber of the heart beats too fast to pump well and the body doesn’t receive enough oxygenated blood.
However, the comedian family in a statement on Facebook revealed that he died from “a long illness” without stating what exactly the illness was.
“We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Gilbert Gottfried after a long illness.
“In addition to being the most iconic voice in comedy, Gilbert was a wonderful husband, brother, friend, and father to his two young children,” the family wrote in a statement on Facebook.
