Black Stars Coach C.K Akonnor Wants To Qualify In South Africa Before Sao Tome And Principe Clash

Black Stars coach Charles Akonnor has set his sights on securing qualification to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations against South Africa.

Ahead of the match in Johannesburg, Akonnor says his target is to qualify in South Africa before the Black Stars’ final qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe.

Ghana currently leads the group with nine points – equal on points with South Africa, but on top due to a superior goal difference. The closest challenger Sudan have six points.

This means a point from the remaining two games would be enough to send Ghana through to Cameroon.

“As much as we are a threat to them, they are also a threat to us,” Akonnor said.

“It’s all about how we organize ourselves and deliver.

“We want to try and qualify in that game before we return for the Sao Tome game.

“So we’ll see, the team that is well organized and plays intelligent football.

“There are a few details that we need to work on. The difference between the two teams is not much and so we want to be clever in that sense and go in there and qualify,” he concluded.
