Serena, who has been a top athletic all her life, in 2011 developed a condition called Pulmonary Embolism.

It is a condition that can be fatal and requires constant medication. The condition occurs when clots of blood form in a large vein and break into the circulatory system. This then leads to clots in the lungs, thereby clogging arteries that supply blood to the entire body.

Williams’ condition has been treated.
