Born in Darwin, Australia on 4 August 1989, Jessica Hilda Mauboy is an Australian singer, songwriter, and actress.
She came into the limelight when she appeared on Season Four of the Australian Idol reality television show in 2006. She was a runner-up and won a recording contract with Sony Music Australia.
Even at a very tender age, Jessica and her grandmother were involved in the activities of the local church choir.
Due to the constant musical activities that happened in their home, her house was described as “the noisiest house on the block” by their neighbors.
Mauboy’s maiden acting appearance was in the adaptation of the 1990 Aboriginal musical Bran Nue Dae in January 2010.
