Rafael Kotanjyan was an American actor known for I Hate the Story of Romeo & Juliet (2004), Ktor me yerkinq (1980) and Ubiystvo v Sanshayn-Menor (1992).
Born on September 9, 1942, in Tbilisi, Georgia, Kotanjyan’s family moved to Yerevan in 1946.
Kotanjyan studied at the Yerevan Institute of Fine Arts from 1960-1964.
Kotanjyan starred in a number of films, including “Chaos,” “Diamond Hand,” “Foreign Games,” “Countess de Monsoro,” “For Honor” and others.
He was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Armenian SSR in 1980, and in 2003, he was named People’s Artist of the Republic of Armenia, and was honored with a gold medal of the Ministry of Culture and the Movses Khorenatsi Medal.
Not only that, but in 2017, he was also awarded the Order of Merit for Services to the Homeland.
