Kim Jong-un Parents: Kim Jong-il, Ko Yong-hui (Father, Mother)

Kim Jong-un is a North Korean who is the leader of the Workers` Party of Korea and the Supreme Leader of North Korea since 2011.

He was born on 8 January 1983, making him the first North Korean leader to have been born after the country’s founding in 1948.

Jong-un is reported to have attended the Liebefield Steinhölzli state school in Köniz, Switzerland under the guise of the son of a North Korea embassy employee. He used the name Un-Pak.

Kim Jong-il and Ko Yong-hui are Kim Jong-un’s parents.

Kim Jong-il

Kim Jong-il who is the father of Kim Jong-un was the former Supreme Leader of North Korea. He was born on 16 February 1942 in Vyatskoye, Russia.

Jong-il’s father was Kim Il-Sung, who was the founding father and first Supreme Leader of North Korea.

In October 1980 he was officially designated as his father’s successor. He became the de facto leader of North Korea when his father died of a heart attack in 1994.

Kim Jong-il was married to Ko Yong-hui with whom he had 3 children; Kim Jong-chul, Kim Jong-un, and Kim Yo-jong.

He died on 17 December 2011 in Pyongyang.

Ko Yong-hui

Ko Yong-hui the mother of Kim Jong-un was born on 26 June 1952 in Osaka, Japan. Her Japanese name is Takada Hime.

She was referred to as “The Mother of Pyongyang” and “The Mother of Great Songun Korea”.

It is thought that Ko and Kim Jong-il first met in 1972. They had three children; Kim Jong-chul, Kim Jong-un, and Kim Yo-jong.

She died on 13 August 2004 (aged 52) in Paris, France.
