Michael Phelps Parents: Debbie Phelps, Michael Fred Phelps (Mother, Father)

Michael Fred Phelps II was born on 30 June 1985 in Baltimore, Maryland. He is a former competitive swimmer from America.

With a total of 28 medals, he is easily the most successful and most decorated Olympian of all time.

Nicknamed “The Baltimore Bullet”, Phelps won twenty-three Olympic gold medals which is a record for gold medals won by an Olympian.

Phelps, who is of English, German, Irish, Scottish, and Welsh descent attended Rodgers Forge Elementary, Dumbarton Middle School, and Towson High School, from which he graduated in 2003.

As a child, Michael was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). He began swimming at the age of seven with the prompting and encouragement of his mother and sisters.

He volunteers as an assistant coach for Arizona State Sun Devils swim team.

Phelps set up the Michael Phelps Foundation with the $1 million Speedo bonus he got after the 2008 Olympics. His foundation focuses on growing the sport of swimming and promoting healthier lifestyles.

Michael’s mother Deborah Sue “Debbie” Phelps (née Davisson), is a middle school principal.
