He is a Swiss professional tennis player who at a time was ranked world No.1 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) for 310 weeks. He has the record of being ranked world No.1 for 237 consecutive weeks.
Federer is behind only Jimmy Connors as the tennis player to have won the most ATP titles with 103 titles under his belt; this includes 20 Grand Slams.
Federer who played his first juniors match in 1996 at age 14 also played badminton and basketball; sports he credits for his excellent hand-eye coordination.
He is a fluent speaker of Swiss German, Standard German, English, and French.
