Famous Cheer star, Jerry Harris has been slapped with a 12-year prison term for asking youngsters for sex.
Before the judge imposed the punishment, the 22-year-old, who became well-known as a result of the Netflix docu-series, had character witnesses read in court.
Because Harris was a well-known celebrity, the prosecution argued that he was able to “persuade and entice” his victims into having sexual relations with him.
At a federal court in Chicago on Wednesday, Judge Manish S Shah gave the social media sensation and cheerleading champion his punishment.
In February, Harris entered a guilty plea to two counts: obtaining child pornography and traveling with the intent to engage in unlawful sexual activity. Under the terms of a plea deal, US prosecutors agreed to dismiss the final five counts. He had previously been informed by a judge that he faced a maximum prison term of 50 years. He was also accused of asking underage lads for pornographic images, which he vehemently denied.
