Stanislas “Stan” Wawrinka was born on 28 March 1985 in Lausanne, Switzerland.

He is a Swiss professional tennis player who attained a career-high ranking by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) as world number 3 for the first time on 27 January 2014.

He has three Grand Slam titles under his belt: the 2014 Australian Open, 2015 French Open, and the 2016 U.S Open.

Wawrinka is an Olympic gold medalist, having won the 2008 Beijing Olympics men’s doubles partnering Roger Federer. He was instrumental in the 2014 Davis Cup win by the Swiss team.

Stan at the age of eight started playing tennis and by age 15 he stopped regular schooling to concentrate solely on tennis. He instead got his education through distance education. He attended the Rudolf Steiner School in Crissier.

Wawrinka turned professional in 2002 and is he currently being coached by Daniel Vallverdú. He is the sixth all-time leader in total career earnings.
