Born on December 7 1994 in Tampa, Florida, Pete Morgan Alonso is an American professional baseball player. He plays for the New York Mets as a first baseman in Major League Baseball (MLB).
Alonso who made his Major League Baseball debut in the 2019 season broke the record for the most home runs by a rookie with 53. He holds the Mets’ single-season home run record after he became the first Mets player to hit 50.
Alonso transferred to Henry B. Plant High School in Tampa after attending Jesuit High School in Tampa for two years.
He went to college at the University of Florida where he played collegiate baseball. He had previously tried his hands at lacrosse and football before settling on baseball.
On March 22, 2022, Alonso signed a $7.4 million contract with the Mets.
