Starling Javier Marte is a professional baseballer who plays as an outfielder for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball. He was born on October 9, 1988. He had previously played for the Oakland Athletics, Miami Marlins, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Arizona Diamondbacks.
In 2012, he made his professional debut for the Pirates. Marte has won the Gold Glove Award twice and is a two-time MLB All-Star. He had the most stolen bases in the major leagues in 2021 with 47.
In January 2020 the Pirates sent Marte as part of a trade package to the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for infielder Liover Peguero, pitcher Brennan Malone, and signing bonuses from the international bonus pool.

Ramón Marte Guzmán and Salustriana González gave birth to Starling Marte in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic.
Salustriana González died when Starling was only nine and he was raised by his grandmother who also died in May of 2022.
