Muhammad won silver at the 2016 Rio Olympics and 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the same medal at the 2013 and 2017 World championships. Her first gold medal was won at the 2019 world championships.

Dalilah won gold as a member of the United States women’s 4 x 400 relay team at the 2019 World Championships and 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

At Benjamin N. Cardozo High School in Bayside, Queens, she participated in various disciplines including the hurdles, sprints, and high jump. She won the 2008 New York State and Nike Outdoor Nationals titles in the 400 m hurdles.

In 2008, she enrolled at the University of Southern California on a sports scholarship, majoring in business. Muhammad turned professional after graduating from college.
