Born on April 13, 1945, in Los Angeles, California, United States, Tony Lee Dow was an American actor, film producer, director, and sculptor.
He is best known for his role as Wally Cleaver in the television sitcom Leave It to Beaver from 1957 to 1963.
Dow reprised his role as Wally in a television movie and in The New Leave It to Beaver from 1983 to 1989.
With almost no acting experience, Dow’s career began when he went on a casting call and landed the role of Wally Cleaver in Leave It to Beaver.
For the show’s entire run, from 1957 to 1963, Dow played the older son of June (played by Barbara Billingsley) and Ward (played by Hugh Beaumont) Cleaver, and the older brother of Theodore “Beaver” Cleaver (played by Jerry Mathers).
Dow’s most recent screen appearance was in the 2003 film Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star.
The 57-year-old actor in April 2019 was seen promoting the Leave It To Beaver television series and other classic television series on the MeTV television network.

On July 26, 2022, after erroneous reports of his death, it was reported by his family that Tony Dow was at his Topanga, California home, in his “last hours”, under hospice care.
A day after a premature death announcement was made by the actor’s management team, Tony Dow died on July 27, 2022, at the age of 77.
A new statement made on Tony’s Facebook page Wednesday from his management reads, “We have received confirmation from Christopher, Tony’s son, that Tony passed away earlier this morning, with his loving family at his side to see him through this journey.”
