Eilish McColgan was born on 25 November 1990 in Dundee, Scotland. She is a middle and longer runner from Scotland.
She holds silver and bronze medals from the European championships in 2018 and 2017 respectively.
McColgan is the current Commonwealth games 10000m champion; she won it at Birmingham 2022. She holds the European and British records in the 10 km road race and the 5000m, 5 km, and half marathon respectively.
She attended the High School of Dundee and studied mathematics and accountancy at the University of Dundee.
At the junior level, she won a silver medal at the Scottish Schools Championships in the 1500 meters and won a bronze medal at the International Under-17s Schools Championship.
At the 2016 Olympics in Rio, she reached the final of the women’s 5000 meters.
She is coached by her mother Liz McColgan.

He is a Northern Irish former steeplechaser. McColgan holds the Northern Irish 3000 meters indoor record with a time of 7:54.48 as well as the two and three-kilometer Steeplechase outdoor records.
Liz McColgan is a British former middle-distance and long-distance track and road-running athlete.
She won the gold medal for the 10,000 meters at the 1991 World Championships and a silver medal over the same distance at the 1988 Olympic Games.
Liz and Peter have separated with the former going on to remarry.
