Ruby, who was born on February 6, 1942, in Toronto, Canada, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from York University in 1963.
In 1969, he earned a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Toronto and was called to the bar in 1969.
He earned a Master of Laws from the University of California, Berkeley in 1973.
Ruby was a partner with the law firm of Ruby & Edwardh with Marlys Edwardh from 1976 to 2008.
He was a partner with the law firm of Ruby Shiller Chan Hasan in Toronto, Ontario, after 2007.
Ruby passed away on August 2, 2022, at the age of 80.
