Ellen DeGeneres Parents: Betty DeGeneres, Elliott DeGeneres

Ellen Lee DeGeneres is a stand-up comedian, television personality, actor, writer, and producer from the United States. From 1994 to 1998, she starred in the sitcom Ellen, for which she won a Primetime Emmy Award for “The Puppy Episode”.

From 2003 to 2022, she served as host of the syndicated television talk show The Ellen DeGeneres Show, for which she won 33 Daytime Emmy Awards. Beginning in the early 1980s, she began a stand-up career that included a 1986 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.

As an actress, DeGeneres appeared in Mr. Wrong, EDtv, The Love Letter, and voiced Dory in the Disney/Pixar animated movies Finding Nemo and Finding Dory. For her work in Finding Nemo, she won the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress, the first time that honor had been given to a female voice actor.

She was born to Elizabeth Jane , a speech therapist, and Elliott Everett DeGeneres , an insurance agent. Her parents were of French, English, German, and Irish descent.

Her parents filed for separation in 1973 and were divorced the following year.Shortly after, Ellen’s mother married Roy Gruessendorf, a salesman.
