The American professional golfer, Samuel Holland Burns was born on 23 July 1996 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Burns played preparatory golf for Calvary Baptist Academy where he was a three-time individual state champion. At Louisiana State University, he played collegiate golf and won four tournaments.
He was subsequently named a first-team All-American and was the NCAA Division I Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year for the 2016–17 season.
Burns turned professional in 2017 and made his professional debut at the Sanderson Farms Championship an event he would later win in 2021.
