Padma Lakshmi was born on September 1, 1970, in Madras (now Chennai), India. She is an Indian-American author, activist, model, and television host. The cooking competition program Top Chef on Bravo was hosted by Padma.
She married novelist Salman Rushdie in 2004. After living together for five years their marriage didn’t last long as they filed for divorce in July 2007.
She was in a relationship with billionaire J. Forstmann from 2009 until he died in 2011.
In the years, 2009, 2020, and 2022, she received a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Reality Host. Padma Lakshmi has published six books.
