American actress and director Denise Yvonne Dowse has passed away.
Born on February 21, 1958, in Honolulu, Hawaii, United States, Denise is best known for her roles as Mrs. Yvonne Teasley in the television series Beverly Hills, 90210, Judge Rebecca Damsen in The Guardian, and Dr. Rhonda Pine in Insecure.
Her film roles include Olivia Biggs in Bio-Dome, Sky Marshal Meru in Starship Troopers, Judge Constance Mullen in A Civil Action, Marlene Andre in Ray, Principal Garrison in Coach Carter, and Flora in The Call.
She appeared as Valeria in the thriller film Fatale in 2022, featuring Hilary Swank, Michael Ealy, and Mike Colter.
Denise was set to direct the upcoming drama film Remember Me: The Mahalia Jackson Story, featuring Ledisi, Corbin Bleu, Keith David, Vanessa Williams, and Columbus Short.

Denise fell into a coma in August 2022, in connection with meningitis. She passed away on August 13, 2022, at the age of 64.
Her death was announced by her sister, Tracey, on the actress’ Instagram on Saturday, August 13, 2022.
“I want to take this moment to thank our friends and family for all of the love and prayers,” she wrote on August 13th, 2022.
“It is with a very heavy heart that I inform everyone that my sister, Denise Dowse, has gone forward to meet our family in eternal life.
“Denise Yvonne Dowse was the most amazing sister, a consummate, illustrious actress, mentor and director.”
“She was my very best friend and final family member.
“Denise loved all of you. I know that she is watching over us with all the love she has.”
Her funeral arrangements have not been put in place yet. The date, time, and venue are not yet out.
Funeral pictures will be ready whiles the funeral is underway or afterward, and a memorial service will be held as well.
