Lynne Cheney, who was born in Casper, Wyoming, in 1941, studied English literature at Colorado College before going on to complete her graduate work at the University of Colorado at Boulder and her doctoral work at the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
Cheney founded the American Council of Trustees and Alumni after serving as the National Endowment for the Humanities’ chairwoman in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
She served as a member of the Lockheed Corporation board of directors and co-hosted CNN’s “Crossfire” from 1995 to 1998. She collaborates closely with the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research and serves as a director of the Reader’s Digest Association.
