He is a Spanish professional football manager and former player. He is currently in charge of the Spanish national men’s football team.
Enrique began his footballing career with his hometown team Sporting de Gijon where he played for three seasons and earned the nickname Lucho. He is one of a handful of footballers to have played for the Spanish football giants and rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Described by Pele as one of the top 125 greatest living footballers, Enrique who had 62 caps with the Spanish national team hung his boots on 10 August 2004 at the age of 34.
Enrique cut his managerial teeth with the Barcelona B side before going on to coach teams like AS Roma, Celta Vigo, and Barcelona FC.
