Geraldo Rivera is an American journalist, attorney, author, political commentator, and former television host.
was born Gerald Riviera on 4 July 1943 in New York City.
Rivera who has Puerto Rican roots was raised by a Jewish mother and a Catholic father. He attended West Babylon High School in New York.
He then went to the State University of New York Maritime College where he was a member of the school’s rowing team but transferred to the University of Arizona where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration.
He obtained his Juris Doctor from the Brooklyn Law School where he graduated near the top of his class. He interned with the New York County District Attorney while still in law school.
Rivera started out in broadcasting as a reporter for Eyewitness News at WABC-TV. He won a Peabody Award for reporting on the neglect and abuse of patients with intellectual disabilities.
Rivera hosted the news magazine program Geraldo at Large, hosts the occasional broadcast of Geraldo Rivera Reports (in lieu of hosting At Large), and appears regularly on Fox News programs such as The Five.
