Charles Fuller Wife & Ex-Wife: Meet Claire Prieto and Miriam A. Nesbitt

Charles H. Fuller Jr. was born on 5 March 1939 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
He was an American playwright, best known for his play A Soldier’s Play.

Fuller was raised a Catholic by his parents Charles H. Fuller Sr. and Lillian Anderson.

His play A Soldier’s Play won the 1982 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, making him only the second black man to win the award.
He also won an Obie Award for Zooman and The Sign in 1980.

The playwright died on Monday 3 October 2022, aged 83.

Claire Prieto is the second wife of Charles Fuller.
Prieto is a Canadian film director and producer, recognized as one of the first black filmmakers in Canada.
She was born on 18 April 1948 in Trinidad and Tobago.

Prieto immigrated to Canada in 1970 with her partner Roger McTair and was a partner in the now defunct Prieto-McTair Productions.
Some of the films she is credited for are Lord Have Mercy and Black Mother Black Daughter.

Claire and Charles married in 2008.
